About the fund
This funding has now closed.
The Government launched the Energy Bills Support Scheme Alternative Funding (EBSS AF) to help households in England, Scotland and Wales without a direct relationship to a domestic electricity supplier.
You could get this if you were not benefiting from the Government Energy Support Scheme (EBSS), where £400 is usually paid through a discount on the energy bill.
It was a one-off, non repayable discount.
Alternative Fuel Payment: Alternative Funding
The Alternative Fuel Payment (AFP) provided a payment of £200 for households that use alternative fuels as the main source of heating. This included heating oil, biomass and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
The vast majority of eligible households received the AFP automatically through their electricity supplier. However, a small number of households were required to apply for the scheme due to the method used to target payments and the fact that some households do not have a direct relationship with an electricity supplier.
The Alternative Fuel Payment Alternative Fund (AFP AF) was set up to provide the payment to these households.
