£10 million retained in the local economy as Barnet Construction Supply Chain Support Programme continues
Barnet Council has extended the Barnet Construction Supply Chain Support Programme for another year, funded through the Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Since its launch in 2022, the programme has helped retain nearly £10m in the local economy by supporting Barnet-based businesses to win work from developers operating in the borough, as well as from the council and Barnet Homes.
London’s first 3x3 basketball court opens in Barnet
Barnet Council launched London’s first 3x3 basketball court yesterday, Sunday 8 June, with an event at Barnet Playing Fields, Underhill.
The court’s major upgrade was created in collaboration with the UK’s leading 3x3 basketball organisation, RISE 3x3, with new artwork designed by North London artist Darren John and his team at Absolutely Studio.

Barnet Council rolls out 1,000 more EV charge points in partnership with char.gy
Barnet Council has taken a major step forward in enabling the switch to electric vehicles with the rollout of up to 1,000 new on-street charge points.
Installations of the first 500 have begun and will be ready in next three months, the remaining 500 will be installed within three years and will bring the total number of EV charge points in Barnet to 2,500.

At a ceremony last week, Barnet’s Community Safety leadership team together with Councillor Sara Conway (Cabinet Member for Community Safety) were recognised with a formal Assistant Commissioner’s commendation for their work as part of a police partnership to tackle organised crime and anti-social behaviour on the Grahame Park Estate.
