From identity to pressure for perfection, popularity, and the desire for likes, this is a short film explores young people’s experiences of the online world and how they cope with the unique generational challenges that they face.

London’s Deputy Mayor visits Barnet Council for groundbreaking pilot scheme to tackle domestic abuse

London’s Deputy Mayor Sophie Linden visited Barnet Council’s offices for an update on the council’s pioneering pilot scheme to tackle domestic abuse in the borough, along with its partners at the neighbouring councils of Brent and Enfield.

Called the ‘Culturally Integrated Family Approach’ (CIFA), the wide-reaching scheme provides tailored services that recognise differences in cultures and ethnicities to improve the support available to those experiencing domestic abuse.

Barnet Council yesterday (31 May) launched a bold new strategy to enable children and young people to influence decisions in the council. The participation strategy, called My Say Matters, was unveiled by young people at a special event at Hendon Town Hall.

New flood-busting scheme by Barnet Council completed

Barnet Council can announce during Flood Action Week that it has now completed its new deluge-busting natural drainage systems in Friary Park, Friern Barnet.

Work on the £500,000 flood alleviation scheme included the construction of a new wetland and a series of small ponds. These will help prevent flooding from the Blacketts Brook, which flows through the popular beauty spot as well as through heavily populated residential areas.

Two years on, expanded CCTV network is showing its value

This week marks two years since the launch of the council’s expanded CCTV network following a much needed £2.3million investment in significantly upgrading Barnet’s safety infrastructure and increasing its reach. And it’s been proving its worth, with more than 7,200 incidents logged by the CCTV Control Room during 2024/25.
