Eager passengers braved a chilly December morning today to be the first to arrive at Brent Cross West, the first new mainline station to be built in London in over a decade.

The impressive new Thameslink station in North London can be found between Cricklewood and Hendon stations on the Midland Main Line and is the gateway to new neighbourhood Brent Cross Town.

Barnet Council and Related Argent, today (28 November) unveiled a new 250 sq metre architectural frieze by celebrated Barnet-raised artist Giles Round, at the soon-to-open Brent Cross West, London’s newest mainline station.

The large-scale work comes just as Barnet launches its bid for Borough of Culture 2027 and is another landmark piece of art in the area that helps promote and celebrate the borough’s cultural identity.

Barnet Council supports UN’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence with borough-wide events

Barnet Council is set to support the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, running from 25 November to 10 December, with a series of events across the borough.

These events, developed in collaboration with various partners, will engage residents in advocating for change and spearheading initiatives to combat violence against women and girls.

Barnet Council and Metropolitan Police forge path for restorative justice initiatives in London

Barnet Council, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police, is launching a groundbreaking partnership during Restorative Justice Week 2023 (19-25 November).

This will promote restorative justice (RJ) initiatives within the borough, creating a platform for dialogue and healing among those impacted by crime.  The collaboration will provide a blueprint for improvements in RJ provision across the Met and Barnet.

83 Barnet schools receive TfL Travel for Life accreditation

More than 80 Barnet schools have recently been awarded their TfL Travel for Life accreditation by Transport for London (TfL).

TfL Travel for Life (formally STARS) is TfL's accreditation scheme for London schools and nurseries. TfL Travel for Life inspires young Londoners to travel to school sustainably, actively, responsibly, and safely by championing walking, scooting and cycling.

Barnet Construction Supply Chain Programme: £7m of investment retained in the local economy

The Barnet Construction Supply Chain programme has effectively supported more than 70 SMEs and 15 developers, leading to the retention of £7 million within the local economy.
