Barnet Council’s Directors of Public Health and Adult Social Care praise NHS and staff on its 75th anniversary

Dr Tamara Djuretic is the council’s Joint Director of Public Health and Prevention, and has worked in the NHS throughout her entire career. She said:

“The 75th anniversary of the NHS is a great opportunity to reflect on the incredible work of all clinical and non-clinical staff that work passionately and with a commitment to save lives and keep people healthy and well as long as possible.

Barnet residents launch recommendations for sustainability success

Barnet Council is proud to announce the launch of its Residents' Recommendations campaign, in line with the proposals made by its Citizens' and Young People's assemblies. These recommendations, developed through a deliberative process with a representative group of residents from across the borough, provide valuable insights and actions for achieving a sustainable and net zero future here in Barnet. 

Barnet’s residents put questions to council Leader and Cabinet members in first Q&A

Urban regeneration, cost of living support, town centre parking, and crime and anti-social behaviour were among the questions put to council Leader Barry Rawlings and his Cabinet members in Barnet’s first live online Q&A with the borough’s political leaders.

Barnet brings together sanctuary-seeking communities for Refugee Week

The event in partnership with Persian Advice Bureau and New Citizens Gateway, was part of the council’s commitment to make Barnet a borough of sanctuary, and an opportunity to celebrate the contribution of refugees in Barnet.

The day included live performances, networking, physical activity, guest speakers and information stalls run by the NHS and the police.

Barnet Council to acquire 249 new homes for affordable rent

Barnet Council’s Cabinet Members have voted unanimously to acquire 249 new build homes from developer Redrow to be made available for affordable rent to the borough’s residents.

Barnet marks Armed Forces Day in partnership with RAF Museum

The event was attended by The Worshipful Mayor of Barnet, Cllr Nagus Narenthira, the Representative Deputy Lieutenant, Martin Russell, and other dignitaries and civic guests.

The annual ceremony was one of many taking place across the country to recognise those currently serving and those who have served.

“Today is the 75th anniversary of the HMT Empire Windrush docking at the Port of Tilbury at the invitation of the British government. The ship brought 492 passengers to the UK from a number of Caribbean islands including Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. They were invited because we needed people to help us get back onto our feet after the Second World War.

Barnet’s special educational, health and care needs support services ‘brilliant’, new DfE data confirm

New data published by the Department for Education (DfE) has revealed that in Barnet 97.90% of Education, Health and Care Plans (excluding exceptions)  are issued within the statutory timescale of 20 weeks. In fact, completion rates in Barnet have not dipped below 97% since 2017.
