The Resilient Schools Programme funded by Barnet Public Health is proud to showcase a Youth Realities and Pink Productions film ‘Generation Verified’. From identity to pressure for perfection, popularity, and the desire for likes, this is a short film explores young people’s experiences of the online world and how they cope with the unique generational challenges that they face.
London’s Deputy Mayor visits Barnet Council for groundbreaking pilot scheme to tackle domestic abuse
London’s Deputy Mayor Sophie Linden visited Barnet Council’s offices for an update on the council’s pioneering pilot scheme to tackle domestic abuse in the borough, along with its partners at the neighbouring councils of Brent and Enfield.
Called the ‘Culturally Integrated Family Approach’ (CIFA), the wide-reaching scheme provides tailored services that recognise differences in cultures and ethnicities to improve the support available to those experiencing domestic abuse.
Barnet’s young residents given a voice in council decisions
Barnet Council yesterday (31 May) launched a bold new strategy to enable children and young people to influence decisions in the council. The participation strategy, called My Say Matters, was unveiled by young people at a special event at Hendon Town Hall.

Tragically, eight of Barnet’s residents lost their lives at the hands of terrorists who sought to drive a wedge between the communities that exist in harmony in our great and diverse city.
Balsam bashers tackle flooding during Barnet Climate Action Month
Thirteen volunteers cleared 220 metres of invasive plant species from the Silk Stream in just one of over 20 environment-enhancing events taking place during Barnet Climate Action Month (BCAM).
The hardy bunch took on around three hours of hard graft each to remove Himalayan balsam from the waterway in Montrose Playing Fields, totalling 39 hours of volunteer work. They also collected around 12 bags of litter from the river, as well as removing a bike, trolley, strimmer and a large piece of wire mesh.

A landlord has been ordered to pay a fine of £75,000 plus costs, after being found guilty of illegally letting two flats in North Finchley, London, for short-term rental bookings on Airbnb and Booking.com.

Barnet Council introduces knife surrender bin to combat knife crime
As part of a London-wide initiative funded by the Home Office to tackle knife crime, Barnet Council is introducing a permanent knife surrender bin and a one-day mobile bin in the borough.
These bins provide a safe and anonymous way for individuals to dispose of knives and other bladed weapons, ahead of new legislation banning ninja swords under Ronan’s Law, which comes into effect on 1 August 2025.
